History of Organization

Tinton Pines Extension Club was one of many extension clubs that were member organizations of the South Dakota State Federation of Home Extension Clubs. It began sometime in 1935 and was in operation until 1983. The purpose of the organization was to better enable women to perform activities that enhanced home and community life, to inspire each other through the exchange of ideas, to sponsor and fund 4-H members, to provide educational services to rural women, and to facilitate representation in the National Home Demonstration Council in the Associated Country Women of the World. This particular extension club was involved with the Black Hills State University Swarm Days Parade, providing baby showers for members, attending and putting on demonstrations relating to homemaking activities, giving flowers to the ill, and buying bonds and stamps to aid in the war effort (WWII)
